A global movement
we are dedicated to seeing a vibrant community of Jesus followers within reach of everyone.
In a simple stroke, God birthed OM in 1957 when George Verwer and his two college friends came together to pray. Out of intercession, God inspired them to drive an old van to Mexico to distribute Christian literature. There was no fancy plan, just simply a pure love to share the gospel with unreached communities.
Years on, in 1981, OM in Singapore was officially registered, beginning as OM’s Southeast Asia office. Many recruits from Singapore and Malaysia served primarily on board OM ships, Logos, Doulos and Logos II. Subsequently, more Singaporeans joined land-based missions all over the world.
Today, OM has more than 4,500 workers, working alongside local partners in more than 147 countries and aboard Logos Hope and Doulos Hope — reaching many who have no access to the gospel.
from singapore to the world
It is a privilege to know that Singapore can be a staging post for mobilising individuals of various ages and backgrounds to join God’s global mission. Whether you are a young person, a pretiree, a homemaker, a teacher or graphic designer, God can shape every vessel to live out His love and hope among the nations.
Live out love
39% of the world’s 7.7 billion people have never heard the gospel or experienced Christ’s love through the life of a believer—this number increases by around 60,000 each day.
WE WANT TO SEE GOD'S LOVE SHARED WHERE...
No one is sharing the life and teachings of Jesus
…like in Somalia, where less than 0.01% of the population are evangelical Jesus followers.
No local community of Jesus followers has formed
…like in Japan, where there are over 1,700 towns and villages without an evangelical church.
Culture, language and other barriers separate people from local Jesus followers
…like in the red-light district of Singapore, where sex workers and migrant workers from Southeast Asia are marginalised.
