AN EXTRAORDINARY GOD
In 2024, we have witnessed God’s remarkable work unfold before us – doors we thought were closed swung open, and long-awaited prayers were answered in ways only He could orchestrate.
Through these divine moments, OM Singapore has experienced breakthroughs that have empowered us to mobilise workers and resources with greater boldness than ever before.
Reflecting on God’s work through OM this year, I am also struck by His incredible blessings over our nation. In just 50 years, Singapore has transformed from a humble fishing village into a flourishing, developed society, rich in resources and influence.
I believe this journey reflects the fulfilment of God’s promise to bless all nations through Abraham (Genesis 12:3). As recipients of His blessings, Singaporeans are uniquely equipped and positioned to make His name known both near and far.
The harvest in our neighbourhood is vast: Southeast Asia is home to one of the world’s largest majority faith populations, with half a billion people still awaiting the message of Jesus’ saving power.
Yet, while the task is great, our God is greater! This year, we rejoiced as OM’s ship Doulos Hope sailed up the Mekong River, bringing to life OM's long-standing dream of reaching less accessible and under-served communities in this region with the gospel. With ministry opportunities rapidly multiplying, we recommit ourselves to God's mission with unwavering confidence.
"Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen." – Ephesians 3:20-21
Whether we are praying, giving, or going, each one of us has a vital role in God’s mission. May the stories in this report strengthen our faith, deepen our commitment, and inspire us to trust in the God who makes the impossible possible.

Certain of his calling and determined to go, Philemon sought the Lord desperately for an open door to serve in Cambodia. His cry did not go unheard, as God soon answered with unmistakable clarity.
Since he was a teenager, Philemon knew that God wanted him to be a church planter and had been praying for a mission field. In his second year of National Service, he felt God urging him to go to Cambodia, but there seemed to be no open doors.
One night, God showed Philemon a vision of OM’s logo. In faith, he emailed the OM team with a surprisingly specific request to serve in Cambodia and be mentored while on the field. Unknown to him, God had a divine arrangement planned.
When Philemon’s request was presented to OM in Cambodia, their team revealed that they had been looking for a ‘Timothy’ for a ‘Paul’ – in essence, an apprentice to assist their then-field leader, Johan. The perfect placement gave everyone goosebumps.
“God is so amazing!” declared Philemon. “I did not know what OM Cambodia needed, and neither did they know what I was seeking. God’s hand matched us together!”
In February 2024, the 23-year-old embarked on his one-year adventure with OM shortly after he was commissioned and prayed for by OM, his family and church leaders. He has since been involved in all areas of mission work in Cambodia – from preaching and translating to accounting and communications, and even IT and manual labour – often helping to meet ministry needs that were previously left unmet. The best part of it all was witnessing new people coming to know Christ regularly.
As Philemon hoped, being mentored by Johan has also allowed him to learn much from the latter’s two decades of ministry experience. Philemon witnessed his leader’s unwavering commitment to pray even in moments when things seemed impossible. This faith has spurred Philemon on in his own journey with God.
Still stoked about God’s call on his life today, Philemon reflected: “I believe everyone has a vital role to play in world missions. I have personally experienced how God works powerfully through the divine partnership of those who enter the field and those who pray for them back home. Together, we are part of God’s unfolding story in the world.” ▪

Six weeks – that was the incredible timeline we were given to prepare for Doulos Hope’s surprise return to our shores in July. But God proved again that nothing is impossible for Him, turning the challenge into His triumph.
Gaining the necessary permissions from the state for an OM ship’s visit to Singapore would minimally require a few months. God miraculously answered our prayers, expediting these processes to grant us the final green light we needed just one week before Doulos Hope's arrival.
Our OM team proceeded with all the plans we had formed by faith. Partnership and collaboration were our key goals, leveraging the ship’s power to catalyse fresh mission movements in the local Church of every port she visits.
In a first-time collaboration between OM and LoveSingapore, a unity movement in the national Church, we invited local intercessors on board to pray for Singapore and for the world.
“The experience was wonderful,” said Pastor Ian Toh, Executive Director of LoveSingapore. “Partnership exemplifies the oneness of the Son and the Father, and it is how the gospel can be spread to those who don’t know God yet.”

More prayers were answered when Doulos Hope’s presence in Singapore opened doors for curious members of the public to have divine interactions with Jesus followers.
Singaporean volunteer Veon, an artist, shared that a visitor confided in her during a community engagement session on board. Through art, the woman revealed that she was secretly exploring the Christian faith and had been receiving dreams. God prompted Veon to talk about the Bible with her and pray for her.
“I’m amazed that she downloaded the Bible App and left her contact for follow up,” Veon said. “All glory to God!”
Crewmembers also joined OM’s local ministry in their outreach to least reached communities in Singapore, which allowed them to gain greater ministry perspective that they could use in future ports of call.
As Pastor Ian rightly says, prayer precedes ministry: “I believe it is impossible to pray and have nothing happen. God always moves.” ▪

AN IMMENSE PROJECT
"For he will deliver the needy who cry out, the afflicted who have no one to help. He will take pity on the weak and the needy and save the needy from death. He will rescue them from oppression and violence, for precious is their blood in his sight."
Mark 10:14
Over in Madagascar, OM worker Miora fights an uphill battle to rescue vulnerable girls from modern-day slavery. In His divine wisdom, God led OM Singapore to extend friendship and support to our young co-labourer in her time of need.
Madagascar is plagued by poverty and social injustice. 80% of the island’s 30 million inhabitants live under the poverty line, which perpetuates extreme levels of child vulnerability (Source: World Bank).
In a preventative effort against abuse, forced labour, child marriages and sex tourism, 30-year-old Miora leads OM’s Perla Project to help young girls stay in school and equip them with simple business skills to support themselves and their families. The project also rescues and rehabilitates victims trapped in these cycles of injustice. Through this catalytic ministry, Miora and her team ultimately aim to bring deeper community transformation through the hope of Jesus.
Displaying much potential, Miora was enrolled in OM’s cross-cultural leadership development programme with a Field Exposure component. When she requested to shadow an OM field with a vastly different profile than her own, OM Singapore sponsored Miora to spend a few weeks with us.
While in Singapore, she learned from our Executive Director Phillip and observed our local ministry, which helped her understand more about team leadership and discover untapped avenues for reaching the vulnerable back in Madagascar.
A few months later, God suddenly prompted OM Singapore to send a financial gift to Miora. It turned out to be an answer to her prayers – she was dealing with health complications, and it was more than enough to fund her treatment. With the excess, Miora started rearing some sheep to supplement her income, which gave her more experience in mentoring girls to run self-sustainable businesses.
“I thank God for His providence! Raising support in Madagascar is challenging because local churches are struggling economically,” Miora shared. “The gift lifted my burden so much.”
Today, Miora presses on to see lives restored in Christ. She is discipling a 19-year-old who is using the Bible to read and write after being rescued from family abuse and witchcraft. Miora is also journeying with a 14-year-old to stay in school and out of an arranged marriage.
“We believe these young girls are the future,” Miora said. “If we disciple them and bring them to greater heights, it will bring great change to their families, communities and even the country.” ▪

Against all odds, God is establishing a place of worship for Himself in the unlikeliest of spaces – the doorstep of an unlicensed brothel.
It had been a long season of struggling against intense spiritual warfare in what seemed a difficult outreach in Singapore’s red-light district. However, as our OM team began a weekly prayer walk around the Geylang area, things in the spiritual realm began to shift.
OM worker Ping* came to know Ron*, a hot-tempered, second-generation brothel operator. With her co-workers, Ping slowly built a friendship with him and learned that he had attended a Chinese-speaking church in the past while overseas. He could even quote from Scripture!
In an unexpected revelation, Ron said to Ping one day, “I think your Heavenly Father is trying to reach me through you.”
Determined to help Ron re-experience the sweetness of Jesus and church life, Ping convinced him to sing a few bilingual worship songs together. To our team’s surprise, this slowly morphed into a monthly worship session which Ron readily hosts in the foyer of his building.
The little community of worshippers is joined by Ron’s tenant, who has since visited a nearby church with Ping on several occasions. Their hearty voices also captivated three Chinese ladies working for Ron’s brothel on the upper floors. One of them even took pictures of the song lyrics to remember them.
At one point, Ron prompted Ping: “Doesn’t the leader always read and teach a passage after singing songs?”
Ping eagerly jumped at the opportunity. Since then, she has facilitated simple Bible studies during each gathering, inviting Ron and his friends to discover Jesus together.
While the worship sessions are ongoing, our volunteers will engage the other ladies working for Ron on the street, who are more open to converse when their boss’ watchful gaze is lifted.
All these fresh ministry opportunities have restored hope in our team’s hearts.
“When we are at the end of our rope and tell God that we don’t know what to do, He always intervenes to bring fresh breakthroughs for His glory,” Ping said.
“Everything that has happened is undeniable proof that God can do the impossible.” ▪
