Children at risk… of what or from whom you may ask? Many of them are at risk of being abandoned to a cold institution away from their home, friends and family! Others are left to fend for themselves living on the street or in centers where they flee as soon as they are able. Most live in fear of being beaten, used, yelled at or simply ignored by the adults around them. They are not worried about turning in their homework but about where they will eat, sleep and who will love them tomorrow. Most will end up in prostitution, working with drugs, or dying in an institution.

You will be working with a local organization which has already been operating for more than ten years in this region. Their “Children at Risk” project seeks to restore hope and provide these children with opportunities for their future. Their main goal is to see children living in healthy families where they can reach their potential in all areas: social, physical, mental and spiritual. Through therapy, training, and providing the needed resources, they aim to prevent these children from ending up on the street or in institutions, and give children and families the tools they need to overcome the obstacles and live a fruitful and productive life. Working together with their local partners they will empower, encourage and help provide the opportunities these children need for a better future!
