Required Skills

OM has a vision to establish vibrant communities of Jesus followers in Spain. Spain is a beautiful country with great spiritual needs.  It is estimated that 10 million people in Spain live in communities without any evangelical presence.  Many people don't even have the opportunity to meet someone who follows Jesus.

Spain is a traditionally Catholic country. Around 68 per cent of the population identify as Catholic, yet only 14 per cent regularly attend Mass.  Evangelical Christians, of which two-thirds are immigrants, count for around one per cent of the population.  This makes Spain one of the least reached countries in Europe.

OM in Spain wants to open a base in the south of Spain where local people, as well as those from other countries, can be trained to be effective in sharing the gospel in Spain or other cultures, giving them practical tools, experiences and missiology theory to develop their skills.

This city in southern Spain where the base is located is the port with the biggest flow of people between Europe and Africa.  This has resulted in a city with a lot of cultural diversity, providing an excellent opportunity to learn about both Spanish and Arab cultures.

For this position we are looking for someone who has a passion to train and equip others to be effective in their own calling and ministry through their personal gifts. Some of the things you will be doing include planning the weekly schedule, designing training, delegating program activities, organizing weekly training sessions and other program related activities.

We welcome singles, couples and families with the following attributes:

  • A passion to see vibrant communities of Jesus followers established among the least-reached in Spain.
  • A good level of the Spanish or English language and a strong commitment to learn English or Spanish.
  • Flexibility, as the work and types of tasks involved are always subject to change.
  • Proactive attitude, willingness to start new activities and try out different ways of reaching and discipling people.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and under the leadership.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, relationship building and interpersonal skills.
  • Problem-solving aptitude.
  • A strong desire to share Jesus' love and the gospel with people.
  • Leadership experience
  • Training experience
  • Cross-cultural ministry experience
  • Able to work with deadlines or under pressure

Please note: This is a non-salaried position. Members need to raise funds and support in partnerships with friends, family and churches.

* The jobs listed on this website do not have a set salary. This means that the person who applies will need to raise their own support, which is money that they will use to live on. The amount of support money they need to raise will depend on things like where they are from, if they have a family, and what country they will be working in. There might be some jobs that pay salary, but these are rare and would need to be negotiated with the sending offices and the teams you'd like to serve with. If you have any questions about this, please contact your local home office. Always keep in mind that our ministry depends on generous giving from our partners around the globe and God's ongoing provision. Joining OM is always seen as a step of faith and trust in a God who will provide for our needs through his chosen people.
