Trip Overview
You will hike the Camino with your teammates. You will find yourself surrounded by pilgrims from Spain and the rest of the world and there will be lots of opportunities for you to make friends from all walks of life and share the gospel with them, both while you are walking and in the pilgrim hostels where you will sleep. The Way of St. James (El Camino de Santiago in Spanish) is a world renowned pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela. Every year, thousands of people from all over the world come to Spain for this hike. It is also considered to be one of the most open areas in Europe to share the gospel, as most pilgrims are more open to listen, discuss and reflect while on the Camino. The purpose of this outreach is for you to share your testimony and the gospel with other people walking the Camino.
This is an EVANGELISTIC OUTREACH where you will need to be intentional in speaking to other pilgrims about Jesus. Our aim is to SHARE THE GOSPEL with other pilgrims. This outreach is NOT for you if you want to do the Camino for personal reflection or personal time with God.
This outreach requires a good level of physical fitness. We highly recommend doing training walks before coming for this outreach and building up over a period of time to walking 20 – 25 kilometres at a time. During the outreach the participants will start walking as a group every day at around 6.30am. Price excludes flights, insurance & any possible vaccinations and is subject to change according to the exchange rate.
As part of our Safeguarding policy, you may require a valid enhanced DBS certificate, which may cost up to an additional £30.

What To Expect
Upon arrival, there will be a welcome dinner where you will meet the rest of the team. Be ready for prayer times, devotionals and engaging in conversations with your teammates and pilgrims. You will walk the Camino alongside pilgrims who are hiking for different reasons, some spiritual and some for the physical challenge. Each day of the hike you will walk from one town to another and spend the night in a pilgrim hostel, where you will be able to make new friends and reunite with pilgrims that you meet on the Camino.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will there be accommodation provided?
On the Camino you will stay in albergues (pilgrim hostels). Often the accommodation in the hostels is mixed i.e. men and women sleeping in the same dormitory. You will sleep in your own bed. The hostels provide a sheet and blanket. We recommend bringing a sleeping bag liner with you.
Will there be food provided?
Self-catering, you will buy your own food from the supermarkets in the towns where the hostels are and cooking it in the hostels. Another option is to eat at the restaurants in those towns. You should bring around 150€ for all the meals while hiking (25€ per day).If you want to eat at local restaurants instead of cooking, bring extra money for that. A meal at a restaurant costs around 15€.
Do I need to make my own travel arrangements?
You should arrive by plane into A Coruña airport (LCG), by train into the railway station San Cristóbal in A Coruña or by bus into the A Coruña bus station. You should arrive before 17:00pm on the arrival day. On the departure day you can leave at any time.
What should my health condition be like?
This outreach is physically demanding. You need to be physically fit as the team will be hiking on average 20 to 25 km per day for a total of 120 km to 140 km over consecutive days. Galicia, the region of Spain where the Camino takes place, is known for being cooler and having more rain than the rest of Spain. The weather is unpredictable, even in the summer, so it could be warm, cool, wet or dry.
Do I need a visa?
Most non-European participants can be in Spain for up to 90 days without a visa. However check with your local Spanish embassy what the Spanish entry requirements are for your specific country.
