OM Carib Moldova

“Moldova has no hope.” These were surprisingly some of the words we heard whilst visiting Moldova. A country which is stated as one of the poorest countries in Europe, but rich in hospitality.

After a spiritually victorious week of evangelism in London, a team of eight Guyanese and one Jamaican enthusiastically travelled to Moldova for further ministry. The mission trip consisted of a lot of time spent in planning and prayer. Because of this we saw the Lord work with us tremendously in the morning home-visits, and in the afternoon with the children and teens ministry.

Being in a new culture with a different language we couldn’t have predicted what would happen. But the Lord helped us adapt. Like Paul stated in 1 Corinthians 9:22, we became all things to all men to save some. And some were saved!

Amazingly, homes were opened to us and people welcomed the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In this land where the religion is predominantly Orthodox, people are aware of God and have a head knowledge of Him, but the majority did not have the heart knowledge of God. The gracious fact that God wants to have a true personal relationship with Moldovans was missing during our ministry there, however we were able to point persons straight to the Gospel, the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Even now, I recount an interaction with a woman who continuously wept upon hearing that God loves her and remembers her, this was how the Gospel continuously moved the heart of Moldovans, leading them to salvation.

As a team we left this field with the realization of how ready the harvest is, how much there is to do and how lucky we are to have the Gospel. With this we also believe that because the Gospel was preached, a country which was said to be without hope now has the living hope, Christ the hope of Glory.
