Samira learnt about Jesus at the youth group that meets in her village. At one meeting, she wrote a letter to God, and Jesus answered her in a dream!
Samira,* who is in her early teens, lives in a village in southeastern Georgia. Although Georgia is a predominantly Christian country, it has a large Muslim population in the southeast, close to the border with Azerbaijan. That population includes Samira’s family.
One day, Samira and her siblings were invited by their neighbours to a youth meeting at the house of Bahar,* who works with OM. At Bahar’s house, they played games, sang worship songs, heard Bible stories, prayed and ate together. The children had a good time and returned the following week and the week after that. In fact, they became regulars, and Samira dedicated her life to Jesus.
At one meeting, Bahar asked the teens to write letters to God and to listen for answers from the Holy Spirit. Samira wrote her letter and then had a dream. In it, she met Jesus and asked Him directly: “How did You walk on the water? Can I walk with You?”
Jesus said, “Of course.” Then, together, they walked on the sea.
This dream changed Samira’s life. It brought her joy and excitement about her new faith in Jesus.
Later, when she shared her letter with the group, she told them about the dream. She also shared another question that she had written: “How did Jonah stay in the belly of the fish for three days?”
The Holy Spirit told her, “I kept him in the belly of the fish. Then I ordered the fish to let him go. He did not want to listen to My words. Don’t run away like Jonah. Tell people My name Emmanuel, Saviour, Lord, Son of God, Friend, Rock.”
Bahar met with Samira’s mother to see what she thought about her children attending the youth meeting. Although Muslim, her mother is more spiritually open than most. Before getting married, she had even attended a Pentecostal church. After marriage, though, she stopped.
Samira’s mother told Bahar, “I know you, and I know that you teach my children good things. Since my children started coming to you, they have changed a lot. Although many people do not want me to send my children to you, I want my children to be free. Whichever path of faith they choose, I won’t stop them.”
Please pray for Samira to be strengthened in her new faith — and for her entire family to come to faith in Jesus!
